Stoles Away

So this month I managed to knit two stoles!
The first was Outline  by Beata Jezek. This is an extremely easy pattern to knit with astounding results. I started this on June, 1st and completed it on June 17th. There a few days I didn't work 9n it as I was away and a few when I was working. I blocked this to measure 37" x 70". I relay like this.

The 2nd stole I did was with HPKY's Flame "Otello" . A very brightly coloured, bulky merino wool that I had purchased a few years ago at Cricket Cove when it was on sale. The stole is just a 3x3 rib done on #13 needles. I had 4 skeins each measuring 133 yards. I used three and 1/4 for the stole and three quarters of the last skein for fringes. I overdyed the stole to a more muted palette using GS Dyes acid dye in turquoise. The stole measures 14.5"x 65" when laying flat but naturally stretches when you wear it to about 24" x 70", without the fringes.

Have a Yarn

Our visit to beautiful Mahone Bay included a visit to Have a Yarn knit shop. We had a great time there and Charlene was super nice. There is a project in the shop she made and I of course bought the wool to make the Neck Cozy
There was so much to choose from. I did get some of the  special Three Churches Wool in bulky weight.
A great shop to visit.

Encompassing Designs Mahone Bay

Well after a wee bit of back tracking on the highway my daughter Ashley and I made it to the picturesque town of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia yesterday afternoon. I just realized that I didn't take any photos of the actual town. Which is a crying shame as it truly is lovely.
We visited Suttles&Seawinds as always it's just so relaxing and the clothing is gorgeous.
Next we visited Encompassing Designs a rughooking shop that I've ordered from. Yesterday I purchased a lovely pattern called Jacobean Jewel. I also bought a few back issues of RHM, a couple of Pendleton shirts and a piece of ecru wool. Ashley got a hank of blue roving. I hope you enjoy the photos. I tried not to take any that will compromise the proprietor's designs.

Nova Scotia

Well I am off to Halifax with my Mother. We are going to visit family and I am hoping to get to Mahoney Bay to visit a few shops; Have A YarnEncompassing Designs and Spruce Top Rugs. No trip to Mahoney Bay is complete without a visit to Suttles & Seawinds. Of course I always try and get to my favourite yarn shop in Halifax LK Yarns. So watch for some photos from my trip. I will do my best to get a few nice pictures along with my purchases.
See you Wednesday at Reads.
