Stephen West Mystery Shawl Complete

Well it's done!
I completed my Westknits Mystery Shawl KAL "The Doodler" on January 10th at 1:30pm local time and blocked it last night. The cable portion is 43 inches long. It is 11 inches at the smallest width and 25.5 inches at it's widest. The length across is 60.5 inches. I blocked it on the double bed in my guest bedroom. I used Knit Picks Chroma fingering Impressionist for the body, Fleece Artist Merino 2/6 Ivory for the cable and Knit Picks Glimmer Peacock for the bottom. I like it quite well. I really wasn't certain I would but I really do.
I have started another Outline Shawl for a friend who is turning 80 years young next month.

Bunny in the Garden

Here is a photo of the rug I hooked for my mother for Christmas this year. I should've taken a photo of it at her home where it now resides in it's completion but I wasn't that clever. This is my own design so I ask that you respect that.
I hooked this on burlap using mostly over dyed wool from used garments. I admire very much Karen Kahle and her palette is very nice. I purchased two of her books about dyeing, Dusty Little Dye Book and Vintage Colors Dye Book. I dyed most of the background wool from a used white wool skirt my sister and brother-in-law gave me as part of my birthday gifts this summer. I dyed most of the green border wool and all of the wool yarn for the binding using one of KK's recipes called Oyster. I have a Fraser 500 cutter and used a #8 cut. I like variety in my strip width so I move the guide arm out sometimes and get a wider strip. I'll even use unevenly cut strips for variety. I've recently joined other Hookers at London Wul once a month to enjoy their camaraderie and valuable advice and  input.

Holiday Projects

I know that the holidays are mostly at an end but as I worked nights the 24th, 25th and 27th I didn't get to blog. Anyways I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. Before the big day arrived I was busy completing my daughter's Katherine Adult Fairy Coat by Jessie Rayout. This coat takes a little over or under two miles of chunky wool to knit in size 3X. It's very well written and not a hard pattern to knit. It just takes a lot of time. My daughter was suppose to send me pictures of her wearing the coat but has not done so as of yet. She works shift work and is particularly busy over the holidays. She did tell me the coat fits her well and she is quite pleased with it. She decided on the pattern and colours. I completed the skirt with a 3 stitch picot bind off. So I am uploading the photos my DH took of me modelling the coat. I am a size 7. Without further ado the Katherine coat.

I also hooked my mother a rug for Christmas but I will have to load that separately as the photos are not in the cloud.
I did not pick up my Stephen West mystery shawl The Doodler again until last evening. I have completed the first wedge in Clue 3. It's been a bit of a slog knitting this project but I am persevering.
Happy Day to One and All
